Samford football players deliver school supplies to Children’s Hospital

Samford football players Jordan Boatright and Fabian Truss visited patients in the Oncology and Hematology Unit at Children’s Hospital Tuesday morning.

The players, along with Director of Football Operations Jay Chapman, gave the children backpacks full of school supplies provided by aTeam Ministries. They also autographed posters for the patients.

“It was a touching experience,” Truss said. “I enjoyed every moment of it, and it was worth putting a smile on each of the kids’ faces.”

Andy and Jan Thrower founded aTeam Ministries to provide spiritual, financial and emotional support during the initial diagnosis, treatment process and after the treatment process after their child, Anderson, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2009.

The Samford football team opens its season against Southern Conference foe Georgia Southern September 3 at 6 p.m.
